Are you offering teletherapy during COVID-19?

Yes. I am offering teletherapy during the epidemic to ensure your safety and the safety of all of my clients. I conduct sessions via secure video conferencing or telephone only, depending upon your preference. I do so from a completely private floor of my home, and I wear a headset to enhance the clarity of our communication and to add an additional layer of privacy.

What if I’m afraid I won’t like teletherapy or that it won’t be as effective as in person treatment?

I can speak to my personal experience regarding client opinions on teletherapy with me. In March of 2020, during the week the current crisis began, I converted all 30 plus of my clients at the time from physical only meetings at my office to telesessions. Of those individual clients, I would estimate that 2/3 were initially skeptical of the transition. As we became used to the process both my comfort level and the comfort level of my clients with telecare quickly and substantially increased. Ultimately, roughly half of my clients have indicated that they now actually prefer telesessions to in person meetings! Mostly because of the added convenience in scheduling and attending, but also for some clients, teletherapy has actually proven an easier medium for them to discuss difficult topics. The majority of the remaining half of my clients have noted that they miss aspects of in person care, but they have also grown to appreciate the advantages of teleservices, and they subsequently do not have a strong preference for either modality. A handful of my clients would prefer a return to in person care when possible, but they have all remained in treatment, and they continue to find it beneficial and worth their time. Not a single one of my clients has ended their treatment because of the move to teleservices, and several more who have started the process via tele report that they are satisfied with the experience, and they have been met with success.

Long story short, do not let your misgivings about teletherapy get in the way of seeking the treatment you want and need until you’ve given it a try with me!

I’ve been dealing with my problems for a long time now. I’m on the fence, do I really need treatment? Can it actually help me?

Many of my clients report that they suffered a great deal before they seriously considered treatment. Unfortunately, most tell me that they went on to suffer a great deal more, and often for quite some time, even after they realized they need some assistance, before finally hitting their limit, and deciding to reach out to me. Many times people will stop just short of reaching out to a therapist, even spending time researching them and the process but not starting it. Some clients have told me that they delayed starting treatment because they were worried that therapy couldn’t or wouldn’t really help them, or that it would take too much time out of their already hectic schedules, or because they just didn’t know what to expect, which made them understandably (but unnecessarily!) nervous. They quickly realized that therapy is extremely helpful to them, that they needed and deserved to take this time for themselves, and that they really only wished that they’d have reached out and begun their treatment sooner! You deserve to be heard, to address your problems, to find relief, to heal. When you are ready, I’m here for you, and I’m looking forward to meeting you. I hope that you don’t delay.
